“Authentic
Morocco”
was born in 2000 out of a
combination of idea and ideal. We
were inspired by a number of
fair trade initiatives to set up an
entity that would allow Moroccan
artisans’ products to reach new
markets, as well as to improve the
quality of life of the artisans and
their families.
We source our products through a
network of artisans-partners
scattered throughout
Morocco.
We develop a personal relationship
with each of them, working to
improve their quality of life
through fair retribution, design
assistance, sustainable development
training, and assistance in the
schooling of their children.
Women comprise about a third of our
artisans. They all share a poor and
illiterate background. We strive to
educate them about women rights
through educative workshops, and
contribute to their financial
independence through our sourcing.
We are also investigating the
possibility of introducing literacy
classes with a partner NGO.
“Authentic
Morocco”
is a purely e-commerce player. We
distribute our products exclusively
online. This organization allows us
to maintain a minimal cost
structure. We have exported to more
than a dozen countries including the
USA, Canada, UK, Denmark, Sweden,
Germany, France, Spain, and
Australia.
